Mappillai Samba Rice Idli dosa

Mappillai samba rice idli dosa is one of traditional healthy breakfast/ dinner recipe. In this recipe I have used 50% Mappillai samba rice 50% regular Idli rice. I haven't tried with 100%. Also I have used grinder to grind the batter. you can do it in Mixie / blender too. I have used traditional Idli maker but you can make idli in idli cooker too. Using same batter you could make uttappam.

Ingredients

  • 1.75 cup Idly rice
  • 1.25 cup Mappillai Samba rice
  • 3/4 cup Urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking dosa

Instructions

  • Wash and soak rice or Mappillai Samba rice together for 6-7 hrs or overnight
  • wash and soak urad dal & fenugreek seeds together for 6-7 hrs or overnight
  • Grind urad dhal till fluffy by adding cold water at regular intervals. Remove it Grind rice with required water(add water at regular interval)Add urad dal batter, salt and grind for 2 more mins.
  • Remove it. Let it ferment for 5-7 hrs
  • Heat water in Idli pan.  pour batter.
  • Cook for 10-13 mins or till inserted stick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool down for a min. Remove it. Serve hot
  • heat dosa pan. Pour the batter and spread outward to get nice crisp dosa. Drizzle oil around it. Let it cook till dosa browned slightly
  • Once done remove it and serve hot
