Beetroot Poriyal

Beetroot is favourite for my son due to the color. My kids like to eat and enjoy the pink color in the teeth & tongue. I like it because of its nutrients. It has good detoxing properties. 

Ingredients:


Beetroot – 2 medium size
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Split urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 1 string
Oil – 3 teaspoon

Sambar powder – 2 full teaspoon
Roasted Gram Powder – 3 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – a pinch


Method:


Wash Beetroot. Scrap the skin and cut it into small piece (alternatively you an grate it)
Take a frying pan and heat the oil.
Add mustard seeds and urad dhal. Let the seeds splutter and fry till Urad Dhal  is brown.
Add curry leaves and fry for 20 sec.
Add Beetroot, salt to taste and turmeric powder.
Cook Beetroot (u can close the lid)
When it is 3/4th done, add Sambar powder and cook it for 5-7 mins

Add Roasted Gram powder and mix well
Cook it for another 5 mins until there is no more moisture left in BeetrootThen remove from stove.

Beetroot Poriyal is ready to serve now.
