Oats Adai

If I see any new dish using Oats I will give it a try. I am big fan of Oats. My husband swears his cholesterol is controlled by having Oats in the morning. My 1st son believes he got his immunity due the daily breakfast of Oats. I like it because it tastes good and keeps u fuller for longer period

Ingredients

  • oats – 1 cup
  • Thuar dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Bengal Gram (Channa) dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Moong dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Onion – 1 big 
  • Red chillies – 2
  • Garlic – 4 pearls
  • Ginger – 1/4 inch piece
  • Curry Leaves – 10
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Coconut – 2 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves – 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – to toast
Method:

Heat the kada and when it is hot add Oats and fry till it is light brown

Run the fried Oats in mixie till it is rawa consistency keep it aside

Wash the dhals and soak it for an hour. Then drain water and grind the dhals with red chillies, garlic, ginger,Onion, Curry leaves,coconut and Cumin seeds to a coarse paste.
In a wide mixing bowl, add the ground paste with raw consistency oats. Add coriander leaves and required salt.
Add water to make it to a batter consistency. Keep aside for an hour. 

Heat flat tawa and pour the batter. Take one full spoon and pour it at the centre and spread around (same like dosa but this one would be bit thicker)

Take a 1/4 teaspoon of oil and pour around it let it cook till it is golden brown and turn it over and cook on the otherside.
Serve hot with Coconut Chutney or Avial
