Ammini Kozhukattai / Ammini Kolukattai – GANESH CHATURTHI RECIPES | VINAYAKA CHAVITHI RECIPES

This kolukattai is so easy to do. Both of my kids like it. I normally do it when I am bored with other snacks or do idiyappam. Adding maida to it makes it softer and smoother. Most of the time for Ganesha Chaturthi I do Sweet kolukattai and pal kolukattai. But this version is more favourite with my kids and husband.

Ingredients:

Rice Flour / Idiyappam Flour – 1 Cup
Maida – 1 tablepoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
Oil  – 1 Tablepoon
Water – 1 1/2 Cup
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad Dhal – 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves – 10 to 15
Grated Coconut – 2-3 tablespoon

Boil 1 1/2 cup of water, teaspoon of oil with Salt. Reduce the flame and add the flours and mix well with spoon. Switch off the flame and leave it for 3-5 mins. Apply oil on your hand and mix the dough well.

Make them in to a soft dough (Adjust water accordingly. The dough should be like smooth chapathi dough). ( I have done the flour in 2 batches)
Now, grease the palms with oil and roll the dough in to small round balls. Steam cook it in idli cooker and once done, keep them aside.

Heat a pan and add oil.Temper with mustard seeds, Urad Dhal, Red chillies and curry leaves. Fry till dhal is brown. Add Coconut and fry till it is light brown.

Add cooked ball and mix it well

Serve it hot
