7 Bean Sundal – Healthy evening snacks recipe – navarathri recipes

I bought 7 Beans Mix which consists of Azuki Beans, Black Beans, Mung Beans, Kidney Beans, Lima Beans, Red Lentils and Green Lentils. I try to include whole beans at least once a week as source of protein. My kids love sundal esp whole beans of any type. It is pretty easy yet makes the meal more balanced and wholesome. So Why not?

Ingredients:


7 Bean Mix – 2 Cups
Salt per taste
Coconut – 2 tablespoon
Red chilies – 3 Broken into pieces
Urad Dhal – 2 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 10 -15
Coriander Leaves – 1 tablespoon
Oil – 2 teaspoon

Method:


Wash and soak the dhal for 6 hours. I normally take Kidney bean separately and soak it overnight. Pressure cook the dal for 2 whistles with salt (use the same water used for soaking).  If the water is more drain it (drained water can be used in Rasam or sambar)


Heat the Kada and add oil. When Oil is hot add mustard seeds when it starts to splutter add urad dhal, broken chilies, and curry leaves. Fry till dhal is brown in color. Add coconut, fry for 2 mins. Add cooked dhals and mix it well

Switch it off. Garnish with Coriander leaves and serve hot
