Rasam Podi | Rasam Powder | Homemade Rasam Powder Recipe By Veena Theagarajan

My mum’s rasam is very famous dish among our family members. Normally I make Rasam with pre grinded rasam powder. This recipe is from my mum.
Ingredients:


Red Chillies – 1/2 KG
Bengal Gram Dhal – 200g
Thuar Dhal – 100g
cumin seeds – 50 g
Pepper Seeds – 50 g
Fengrueek – 50g
Raw rice – 50g
asafoetida – 25 g
Turmeric – 50 g
Coriander seeds – 250g / 1/4 Kg
Mustard seeds – 50 g
Urad dhal – 50 g
Oil – 1 teaspoon

Method


Dry Roast each ingredients separately kee it aside
Heat the oil and add asafoetida and fry add it to the Ingredients. Let it cool down

Powder it in Mixie or in shop using machine.. I prefer the one done thro’ Machine

      It is south indian dish. Similar to soup (with lentil as basic one there are other variations too). This powder is used to give the flavour to the soup

      Number of chillies in the photo looks less compared to the quantity specified in the actual recipe.. And the color of the powder also looks not reddish.. Did u put less chillies while making the powder?
