Barley Adai

I love whole grain dosa / adai. It gives easy way to present balanced meal. My kids are not big fan of Plain normal adai. However when I spice it up with vegetable or mix in with other ingredients they love it (not sure why). This is one of that dish. This is one of the healthy dish
Ingredients
Bar boiled / idli rice – 1/2 cup
Barley – 1 cup
Thoor /Thuvar dhal – 1/2 cup
Bengal gram / Chana dhal – 1/2 cup
Urad dhal – 2 tablespoon
Jeera – 1 teaspoon
Red chillies – 4-7 (adjust to your spice level)
Salt to taste
Curry leaves – 10-15
Asafoetida / Hing- A pinch
Grated coconut – 2 tablespoons
Ginger – 1
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon



Method

Wash and Soak rice, barley, thuvar dhal, bengal gram dhal for 6 hours.

drain the water and grind it with Red chillies, Cumin seeds, coconut, Curry leaves, salt and ginger. Mix in chopped coriander leaves. 

Heat the flat pan / Tawa. Pour laddle of dough and spread it outwards. Drizzle oil around it. Let it cook once cooked turn other side and cook it till crispy

Serve hot with your favourite chutney

    I do agree.Not to say plain adai is not tasty but with the extra ingredients, its definitely another level of taste. I am not a big fan of it yet my other half love it. Shall try this interesting variety for him.

      I haven't tried with barley flour but tried with other grains you can add to your normal Ada batter it should be fine
