I love onion pakora but my first son doesn’t even touch it. He hates cooked onion in any form. When I was in India this time I was visiting a shop and tasted onion pakora and it didn’t taste good. I was mentioning this to my mum and after my afternoon nap when I went into kitchen I saw the dough getting ready. Mum is always best!
Ingredients
Besan / Gram flour – 1 cup
Rice flour – 1/2 cup
Curry leaves – 10
Cooking soda – pinch
Salt to taste
Onion – 4 (sliced thinly)
Asafoetida – pinch
Oil to deep fry
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon (Adjust to your spice level)
Method:
Mix all the ingredients except oil. Mix with little water as possible just get the ingredients bind together. Make sure the dough is as dry as possible
Heat the kada / pan and add oil. When oil is hot put the dough in oil use your hand to sprinkle around. Fry it in medium flame till the pakora is cooked or till the sound subside. Drain the oil and take out the pakora and leave it on a tissue paper till the oil is fully drained. Repeat the process till all the dough is done
Serve hot
