Easy Cauliflower Kootu Recipe

I seldom do kootu with Cauliflower. Kids love it Cauliflower Fry. Since it is easy to do it I also do  most of the time. Normally I will make one kootu and one poriyal for the weekend lunch. But today I didn’t have much of vegetable for kootu. So decided to do with cauliflower. I called my mum to get the recipe. She uses moong dhal (Pasi Paruppu) for this but I use Bengal gram dhal (channa dal, kadalai paruppu). It goes well with rice and chapathi
Ingredients:
  • Cauliflower- 2 cups
  • Bengal gram dhal Channa dal(Kadalai paruppu) – 1/2 cup each
  • Coriander seeds- 3 teaspoons
  • Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
  • Grated coconut- 2.5 Tablespoons
  • Green chili- 2-4 (adjust to ur
  • Garlic- 5-6 pods
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Onion-4 tablespoons (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves- few
  • Oil and Salt- as required
Method:

Cut and cook Cauliflower, Bengal gram dhal with Turmeric powder and salt. Heat little Oil in a pan, add Coriander seeds and Cumin seeds, fry till it turns into light brown color. Grind the fried items with Grated coconut, Green chilies and Water.

Heat Oil in pan. Add cumin seeds and fry till it crackle add garlic to the pan. Once it is in slight brown color add Onion and Curry leaves. Fry till it becomes brown in color. Then add ground items, Salt, cooked dal and vegetables. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or till it becomes thick.

Enjoy it with rice or chapathi
