Paneer Bonda (Cottage Cheese Balls)

I do paneer dish at least twice a week. Over this weekend my son was asking for some snack. He wanted something like bonda or bajji. I don’t have raw banana at home, they are not big fan of onion or potato. So decided to do Paneer. It is good quick and healthier snack. I made it using Kulipaniyaram tawa instead of deep frying.

Ingredients:

For the batter (from Scratch)

Gram flour / Besan – 1/2 cup
Rice Flour – 2 tbsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

asafoetida a pinch
Hot oil – 1 tablespoon
baking Soda a pinch

If you have any Bajji or bonda readymade you can use it

For paneer balls

Crumbled panner – 1 cup
Garam masala – 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin Seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
Green Chillies – 2 chopped finely

Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon finely chopped
Salt to taste

Oil – 2 teaspoon

Oil -4 to 8 tablespoon for frying

Method :

Crumble the paneer

Heat the kada add oil when hot add cumin seeds and fry till cumin seeds crackle

Add crumbled paneer, Green chillies, salt and masala powder and mix well. Cook it for 3-4 mins and add coriander leaves and mix it well

Switch it off and keep it aside. When it cools down make golf size ball. Keep it aside

For the batter, take the ingredients listed under batter section of the ingredients in a bowl, slowly add water and make a semi thick batter.

Heat a kulipaniyara tawa and add bit of oil in all the holes. When oil is hot dip paneer in the batter and put it in kulipaniyara tawa.

Cook on all sides and remove it and keep it on kitchen tissue paper to let the excess oil drained. Serve hot with sweet chutney or coconut chutney or green chutney
