Raw banana fry is regular vegetable at our household. We do it whenever I am able to get raw banana.. I was sick of spicy fry. so I wanted to try dhal poriyal that my mum used to do. Since raw banana fry is one of very favourite of my 2nd son I needed to get permission to do something different. He reluctantly agreed.
Ingredients:
Raw Banana – 3
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt per taste
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 2 teaspoon
Red chilli – 3-4 (cut into 1 inch pieces)
Curry leaves – 10
Cooked thuvar dhal – 1/2 cup
Grated coconut – 2 tablespoon (optional)
Oil – 2 teaspoon
Method:
Cut the Raw Banana into 2
Pressure cook the banana till it is cooked with salt
Peel the skin and cut into 1 inch square
Heat the kada. When it is hot add oil
When Oil is hot add mustard seeds. When it start to splutter add Urad dhal, Red chilli, Curry leaves. Fry till dhal is brown
Add cooked Banana and turmeric powder and mix well
Cook for 2 mins
Add cooked dhal mix well and cook it for another 1 – 2 mins
Add grated coconut and mix well
Switch off the heat and serve hot
