Agathi keerai Poriyal

Agathi keerai is good for health. I was adviced my MIL that we shouldn’t be consumed very often. We can take this 2 times per month. I normally buy this once in a while (not as frequent as other greens). This leafy vegetable supposed to help in cleaning up stomach.

Ingredients :


Agathi keerai – 1/2 bunch
Big Onion – 1 Chopped finely
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon.
Urad dhal – 1/4 teaspoon.
Moong dhal – 1/4 teaspoon. (Optional)

Dried Red chilli – 2-3
Coconut – 2 tablespoon(Optional)
Salt – per taste
Oil – 1/4 teaspoon.


Method :

Remove all the leaves from the stem and clean it and keep it aside

Cook Moong dhal (3/4 cooked) 
Heat Kada and when it is hot add oil 
When Oil is hot add mustard seeds when it start to splutter add urad dhal and Red Chilli
When Dhal turn brown add onion and fry till it is light brown

Add Agathi Keerai add sprinkle water and salt.
Cook the Keerai by closing the lid
When it is 3/4 cooked add Dhal and coconut and mix it well

Let the Keerai cooked well. Serve hot
