Drumstick (murungai keerai) Leaves Poriyal

I like the Drumstick leave poriyal. Back home we have drumstick tree. So we can get it fresh. I still get my mum do this whenever I go back. For rest of the family doesn’t like this that much. So I seldom do this. However recently they are also becoming more health conscious. Kids taste also changing. So decided to give it a try again . To my surprise they liked it


Ingredients


Drumstick Leaves (Green and tender) – 4 Cups

Whole Green Gram Dhal – 1/2 Cup (Cooked)
Onion – 1/4 cup finely chopped
Mustard Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Urad Dhal – 2 teaspoon
Red Dry Chilli – 2 (Break into 2)
Asefotida powder – a pinch
Salt as required
Oil – 3 teaspoon


Method:


Heat the kada when hot add oil
When oil is hot add mustard seeds and it splutter add Urad dhal, Red dry chillies, Asefotida and fry till urad dhal is brown
Add Onion and fry till onion is soft
Add drumstick leaves and fry till soft (roughly will take 7-10 mins)
Add salt and mix it well
Add cooked whole green gram dhal (No need to soak just cook it with bit salt in pressure cooker till one 2 whistle)
Mix it well and cook it for 3 mins
Switch it off
