Radish (Mullangi) Sambar

My kids were not found of Mullangi due to the strong aroma. However couple of years back our trip back home changed that. My mum had little garden and as part of it she was growing all the Indian vegetables. Kids got so excited to take their own vegetables and get it cooked. Especially Radish as it is under the sand Vegetables are fresh and it tasted so good. 


Ingredients:
Radish – 1/4 kg (We can White / Pink)
Cooked Thuar Dhal – 1/2 Cup
Tamarind – Lemon sized

Salt – as required
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 1 string


Grind together:
Thuar Dhal – 1 Tablespoon
Coriander Seeds – 2 Teaspoon
Grated Fresh Coconut – 1/4 Cup
Green Chillies – 6 
(dry roast Coriander seeds and fresh coconut before grinidng)


Method:
Heat the kada and when it is hot add coriander seeds and coconut and fry for 1 mins. keep it aside
Scrape outer skin and slice the radish into thin discs
Preasure cook till one whistle (steam cook)
Soak tamarind in hot water and squeeze the juice out of it
Add ground paste to the squeezed extract along with Radish and cooked thuar dhal, salt and boil till sambar becomes thick
Heat oil and when it is hot add mustard seeds, Curry leaves. When it splutter add to Sambar
