Papaya Kootu – 1

When I was checking the fridge yesterday night to take the stock of vegetables I had I realized I had the 1/2 raw papaya left (another half I made Papaya vadai and recipe was posted here). Normally Friday is long day for kids in the school so they eat at school. When they come back home they just take Vegetables / Fruits. So I decided to make Kootu so that that I can have it in the morning for breakfast together with Uppuma.

Ingredients:
Raw Papaya 3 Cup (diced as cubes)
Thuar Dhal (Cooked) – 1/3 Cup
Moong Dhal (Cooked) – 1/3 Cup
Curry Leaves – 1 String
Chopped Coriander- 1 Tablespoon
Salt to taste
Gingerly Oil – 1 teaspoon
Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Tomato – 1
Rice Flour – 1 teaspoon (if required)

Method:

Heat the Oil in the Kada
When Oil is hot add Cumin Seeds when it start to crackle add curry leaves and Diced Papaya
Add 1 Cup of water and let it boil
Add Thuar Dhal, Moong Dhal, Tomato and salt
Let Papaya get it cooked (u can add this in Pressure Cooker and let it cook till 1 whistle)
If the Kootu is watery can add Rice flour by mixing it in water. If you add Rice flour let it boil for 30 sec- 1 min max
Add Coriander leaves and switch off
This can be served with Chapatti or Rice or Uppuma.
