Avaraikai Poriyal


Ingredients:

  • Avaraikai- 500g 
  • Thuar Dhal – 1/3 cup
  • Red Chillies – 3 ( I use Red Chillies in green vege so that kids can notice it) if you prefer Green you can use it also
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Urad Dhal – 2 teaspoon
  • Finely chopped Onion – 1 tablespoon
  • Curry leaves – 1 string
  • Grated Coconut – 1 tablespoon (Optional) I don’t use it
  • turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Wash and cook thuar dhal with turmeric powder (2 Whistle)
  • Wash and cut the Avaraikai into small pieces. (if you it cross it will look nice)
  • In a kadai put one teaspoon oil and when it is hot add half teaspoon mustard.
  • When it start to splutter add urad dhal and fry it till brown
  • Add Curry leaves, Red Chillies and Avaraikai
  • Add water just to cover the avaraikai with salt
  • Let the 
    avaraikai to get cooked. You can close the Kadai
  • Add Thuar dhal when 
    avaraikai  is cooked. Mix it well for 3 mins. if you are using Coconut, once cooked add grated coconut and mix for 10 sec
  • Transfer to serving dish
