I wanted to try this walnut burfi for quite some time. Even though I am not a big fan of raw walnut I force myself to have it because for health reasons. I saw this recipe in many blogs (Esp during Diwali time) also cookbooks I have. So was tempted to try it out. I thought the combination of almond and walnut will reduce the unique flavor of walnut. This combo did work for us. According to your preference, you can make with a 50:50 ratio. This is definitely fewer guilt sweets you can try anytime
Ingredients
Almond – 1/4 cup
Walnuts – 3/4 cup
sugar – 3/4 cup
vanilla essence – 1/2 teaspoon
Ghee – 1 teaspoon
Method
Dry roast almond /walnut.
Let it cool down and grind to a powder (pulse it)
Heat water (1 cup) and add sugar to it. Add vanilla essence
Make 1 string sugar syrup. Add ground powder
Continue to mix it. Add Ghee and continue to cook till it comes together without sticking to the bottom
Once ready pour it to the greased plate level with the greased bottom of the spoon. once it is warm slice it.
