I was looking for some simple yet tasty (at least will appeal to my sons) starter, teatime snack. I saw this in my Instagram feed.. The first name attracted me, when I checked recipe in few sites I bookmarked it to try. It is served for breakfast in Jharkhand. It was very tempting and decided to try out for my evening snack instead. Everyone loved it. It is perfect for weekend brunch. I served it by itself. you can serve it with your favorite chutney too. Since I served as a snack I have added onion but the original recipe didn’t call for it. So you can try out and let me know. You add some vegetables too.
Ingredients:
Idli rice – 1 cup
Channa dal – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Green chilies – 2 – 4 (Adjust to your spice level)
Ginger – 1/2 teaspoon (Grated)
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon (chopped finely)
Onion – 1/4 cup (I have used small onion)
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Grind to smooth paste with green chilies & ginger. Add coriander leaves, onion, and salt.
The batter should be like Dosa batter
Heat oil for deep frying. When the oil is hot pour ladle full of batter. It will puff up like puri. Cook both sides. Turning a few times. Remove it from oil. Place it in kitchen tissue to drain extra oil
