Aloo Cheela is basically potato pancake with Indian spices. It is a very simple recipe and can be put together in less than 30 minutes if you have all the ingredients prepared. Most kids love potato so this dish can be served as a breakfast or snack. It is good for a snack box, too. I have added rice flour, but you can add cornflour instead. Besan flour or kadalai mavu is said to be in high protein and potato can be filling. So this can be perfect for kids to give much-needed energy. If you want, you can add onions, but I didn’t use that. Below gives me about 6-7 small cheela
Ingredients:
Potato – 2 (medium size)
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons
Spring onion – 2 tablespoons
Roasted Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
Pepper powder -1/2 teaspoon
Green chilies – 1 (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Rice Flour – 2 tablespoons
Besan Flour – 2 tablespoons
Hing / Asafoetida – 1 generous pinch
Butter/oil to cook
Method:
Peel and Grate potatoes.
Soak them for water for 30 mins.
Remove it from water and squeeze water out of grated potatoes. Mix in the other ingredients (except for butter).
Mix well until you get a thick batter. Heat a flat pan and grease it with butter or oil.
Pour a ladle full of batter and cook it low flame.Turn it over and cook again. Once done, remove it.
Serve hot and enjoy!
