Making any Indian sweet is a project at least for me. Not just how to do it but also how I am going to serve it. As Sweet is not anyone’s favourite in our family except for few items. However any savoury snacks will disappear in no time. When I saw this at Chitra’s space I was so tempted to try it out as it is very simple & it is with coconut (Yeah now a days coconut is super food right?). I had some Desiccated coconut & Koya in the fridge. So I thought I will try immediately. Thanks Chitra for this simple Sweet/ Dessert. I have followed full recipe from here
Ingredients:
Mawa / Koya – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Desiccated coconut – 1.5 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ghee – 1 teaspoon (for greasing the plate)
Nuts of your choice – 1 tablespoon (I have used Almonds)
Saffron – few Threads
Water – 3/4 cup
Food Color – a pinch (optional)
Method:
Grease plate with ghee and keep it aside. Heat 3/4 cup water with saffron, Food color, cardamom powder. Add Crumbled koya/ Mawa and mix well (without any lumps). Let it boil for a min
Add Sugar and continue to boil till sugar completely dissolved. Add Coconut and mix well.
Continue to cook in Medium flame till it leaves sides.Transfer it to greased plate
Level it with back of cup. Leave it aside till it cools down. Sprinkle chopped nuts
Run greased knife to make desired size of slices. Freeze it for 2 hrs. Serve it
Next day it tastes really good. Finish it within couple of days
