I wanted to try this Gingerbread man cookie for quite sometime. But these kind of spiced cookies are not my family’s favourite. Also the Ingredients list scares me. I bought a few Christmas cookie cutters last year and they were lying in the shelf. After hearing the benefits of molasses I decided to buy it for making a few dishes. I decided to try out the gingerbread men cookies but with whole wheat. It came out pretty good. Do try out and you can decorate it to your own imagination. Video for icing was taken twice that’s why the stills and video was diff.
Ingredients:
Whole wheat flour – 1 cup (125 g)
Brown sugar – 1/4 cup or 50g
Molasses – 1/4 cup
Butter – 1/4 cup (at room temperature) (57g)
Cinnamon powder -1 teaspoon
Clove powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ginger powder -1 teaspoon
Baking soda – 1/4 teaspoon
Milk – As needed
Salt – 1/8 teaspoon
For Icing
Icing sugar – 1/2 cup
Milk – 1 Tablespoon
Method:
Powder the sugar. Mix in flour, cinnamon powder, clove powder, ginger powder, baking soda. Run in it in mixer. Cream salt, powdered sugar, butter and molasses.
Cream together. Add a teaspoon of milk whisk again.
Mix in dry ingredients make a smooth dough. Wrap it and keep it in fridge for 30 mins to 2 hrs
Take it out and roll that into 1/4 inch (I have used baking sheet) it is easy to do it
Use the gingerbread man cookie cutter to cut the dough
Line the baking tray. Arrange the cookie. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree
bake the cookies at 180 degree C for 8-10 mins or sides are browned. Let it cook down completely
While cookies are getting baked let’s make the icing mix in Icing sugar, vanilla essence with milk till it is smooth
Fill the zipper bag. Tie it off as in pic / viedo. Cut a tiny hole in one of the corner and do the decoration on the cookies
Once Icing set store it in air tight container and enjoy!

So cute your gingerbread men look like… it's the same in my house, nobody wants spiced cookies… but for satisfying the blogger in us, we need to make it and have it ourselves or distribute it to whoever we can… hehe…
I am yet to make the gingerbread men this year… With kids at home making it during holidays is fun… Your gingerbread men look cute and healthy too because of the whole wheat in them.
