Garlic bread croutons Recipes – Homemade Bread Croutons recipe – Back to basic recipe

I wanted to bake Garlic croutons for quite some time. It is good on salads and Soups.  My kids have this as a snack. Once in a while I buy the store brought Croutons. But I stopped buying it as i find that it is salty. So wanted to try it at home to control the spices in it. I have added the spices that I had and I like but the herb choices are up to you. You can do plain too. It disappeared in no time. It is simple recipe so you can do it whenever you feel like having some crispy snack or have some left over bread you can try this recipe
Ingredients:



brugette bread – 2 (Best old bread. Medium size)
Olive oil – 1/4 cup
Red chilli flake – 1 teaspoon (adjust to spice level)
Garlic – 6 pods (grate it)
Oregano – 1/2 to 1 teaspoon
Salt (sea salt) as needed



Method:


In a bowl add olive oil, Salt, Garlic, Pepper Powder, red chilli Flakes and Oregano mix wellL
Cube the bread into 1/2 inch cube. 

Add that to bowl. Add spiced oil and mix well so that each bread is coated with herbs

Pre heat oven at 180 degree C. Bake the bread for for 20 mins at 180 degree C or till all the sides are browned. Turn it in the middle if needed (I baked in 2 batches)

Let it cool down and store it in air tight container
Serve it with salad of soup

    Croutons are amazing with soups and salads, but store bought ones are considered very calorific. Love the way yours looks and the flavors too…
