Carrot halwa is one of my husband favourite. So wanted to try other fruit or vegetable base halwa. I wanted to try this papaya halwa for quite sometime however not very sure about he flavour of it as papaya has it’s unique flavour and some people quite put off by it. Other day I brought papaya and my hubby brought another one (I told him a week ago Sigh) both are quite ripen cannot keep for long. So I have decided to try out this sweet. Since It is fruit base you cannot keep it for long try to finish it within couple of day. You can serve with Vanilla ice cream or loads of nuts
Ingredients
Papaya -1 medium size (ripped one. Grated – 2 cups)
Koya / sugarless kova / mawa – 2 tablespoon
Sugar – 2 to 4 tablespoon (Adjust to your spice level. I hv used brown raw sugar powder)
Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Mixed nuts – 1.5 tablespoon (Cashew, alomond)
Raisins – 2 teaspoon
Cardamom powder – 2 pinches
Salt – pinch
Method:
Remove the skin and grate papaya
Heat 3 teaspoon of ghee in a pan Fry all the nuts and raisin till brown in color. Drain it and keep it aside. Add grated papaya. Continue to cook. till moisture absorbed.
Add koya. continue to cook mix wellWhen moisture absorbed add sugar (I have used raw sugar powder) continue to cook. Till ghee oozes out.
Add fried nuts and cardamom powder. Mix well.
Switch it off and enjoy!

Happy Ugadi, I would love to try this, my only concern, did it have the strong papaya flavor
That halwa is my favorite… I make it with jaggery and so turns out brown in colour… yours has a pretty orange colour…good one
I totally love papaya halwa. The work involved is lower than that of carrot halwa, but tasted delicious too. Love the serving with ice cream.
