This is one of my Sister favourite. I wanted to post this for a while.. I have to find a occasion to make sweets. As my whole family not found of sweets. Diwali is really perfect to try out sweets. I was looking for some interesting yet very mild sweet to be distributed to my Gym friends during this festive sessions. Somasi came to my mind as they like samaosa. Outer crispy layer and milder sweet stuffing inside perfect combo. So I have decided to give it a try. They really liked it. So without further delay let’s move to the recipe.
Ingredients

Corn Flour – 3 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil – 1.5 tablespoon

For Stuffing

Roasted Gram dal – 1/2 cup
Grated Coconut – 3/4 cup
Cardamom Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Sugar – 1/2 cup

For Somasi
Oil for deep frying

Method:

Let’s prepare outer layer dough first. Take all purpose flour, Salt, Corn flour in broader vessel. Add oil and mix with hand. Add water to make stiff dough (make sure it is stiff. Add water little by little). Leave the dough aside for 2 hrs

Dry roast the coconut till brown color and all moisture absorbed. Keep it aside

Grind roasted gram to fine powder

Grind sugar and cardamon into fine powder. Mix all the ingredients. Now stuffing ready

Divide the dough into equal lemon size balls. Roll each one into thin poori

Add tablespoon of stuffing. And grease once side of poori and close it and seal all sides (like in pic)

And cut the edges with the Somasi cutter. Make sure you leave some sealed portion. like in pic

Prepare all the somasi. Heat oil for deep frying. Place few pieces at a time and make sure it can cook separately don’t over crowd it. Fry at medium flame till all sides are browned.

Drain extra oil and remove it from oil. Place it in kitchen tissue paper to dry out excess oil

Once cool down store it in Air tight container and enjoy it
