Bonda more kulambu – Bonda mor kulambu recipe – Kalyana Mor kuzhambu recipe – bonda mor kuzhambu recipe – Simple Kuzhambu recipe – Side dish for Rice recipes – Lunch recpies

I love mor kulambu in any form. Our family’s most favourite Sunday special esp after all the one pot meals is mor kulambu. It goes well with most of the side dish too. It is also most simple meal option for me. I had this recently in my cousin’s place. I am very happy that I got another variation to my favourite dish. I followed same method as paruppu urundai mor kulambu recipe with some modification to the gravy and replacing paruppu urndai with bonda  As a slight variation you can grind the masala with 1/4  leaves. It would be nice too.
Ingredients:

For Bonda
Urad dhal – 1/2 Cup
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste

For Kuzhambu – Grind to smooth paste
Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
Cumin seeds / Seeragam – 1/2 teaspoon
Chana dal / bengal gram dal – 1 teaspoon
Toor dal – 1 teaspoon
Raw rice- 1/4 teaspoon
Green chllies – 3 – 5 (adjust to your spice level)
Salt to taste
Water as required

For Kuzhambu – Gravy
Sour butter milk – 2.5 cups
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds – 1/8 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 20 leaves

Method:

Wash and soak Urad dhal for 1 hr. Drain it and keep it for 30 mins. Grind it with salt, cumin seeds and as little water as possible.

Heat oil in a deep curved pan. Drop small dollop of batter and fry it in medium flame till the bonda is completely cooked, turning it in between at regular interval so that all the sides of bonda can be evenly cooked.

Drain the oil and place it in kitchen tissue paper to drain extra oil

Once all the batter is done place it in hot water for 10 mins. Drain the water and keep it aside

Combine the buttermilk, little salt and turmeric powder in a bowl, mix well and keep aside.

Grind all the ingredients under For Kuzhambu – Grind to smooth paste

Heat pan with oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Red Chillies, Curry leaves, fenugreek seeds and let it pop. Reduce the flame..Add grinded dhal coconut paste. Mix well.

Add required water I have added 2 cup of water. Let it boil. Reduce the flame. Add butter milk mixture.

Cook it in low flame for 2-3 mins. Add bondas, coriander leaves,. Mix well cook again for a min. Switch it off

Now Kuzhambu is ready

That looks so delicious! We also make curries with coconut and yogurt combination, looks similar to that… adding the bonda is a very nice variation…
