Poori is one of the easiest recipe to try even for bachelors. It is also quick to do when you have visitors. This is also the most favourite dish for a lot of kids. The other day I wanted to make a quick dinner and had some left over chana masala. So I wanted to do some flavoured one so that I don’t have to top up with any side dish. As this has all the masala and plain yogurt go well too. Everyone at home loved it. If you haven’t tried so far do try it out
Ingredients
Wheat flour – 2.5 cup
Besan flour – 1/2 cup
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Ajwan seeds / Carom seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1/2 teeaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Method:
In a broader vessel take all the ingredients other than Oil. And make a soft stiff dough
Divide it into small lemon size ball and leave it aside for 30 mins
Heat pan for deep frying with oil. When Oil is hot rollout each ball into thin disc (~2 mm).
Place it in hot oil and press it with sloted spoon till poori fluff up. Let it cook. Turn it over and cook till brown spots appear and bubbles in oil subside
Drain the oil and place it in kitchen tissue paper to drain the extra oil
Serve hot
