Sprouts and cabbage gravy – Side dish recipe – Simple side dish for paratha, steamed rice, roti, Chapathi, Pulka

I love simple side dish for chapathi / Roti / Pulka. I always keep some sprouts in the fridge for some quick and healthy dish. Towards end of of the week I always end up with some vegetables in the fridge which is not enough to make any dish by its own. I am not sure about you! This time had some cabbage so I have decided to try some gravy with cabbage and sprouts. It came out pretty well. I had with steamed brown rice also.. It goes well with both rice and roti

Method:

Soak Poppy seeds and cashew nuts together for 1 hour. Wash the all dhals and soak it together for 1 hour.

Pressure cook the dals, sprouts, Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, tomatoes, salt with 3 cups of water (for about 4 whistles). Dhals should be fully cooked and should be easy to mash it

Dry roast Red chilli, clove, coriander seeds and grated coconut. Grind it with soaked poppy seeds, cashew nuts to smooth paste. You can use mixie or blender or food processor to make the paste.

Heat the kada and add oil. When oil is hot add cumin seeds and let it crackle. Add grinded masala fry for 30 sec. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for another 30 mins.

Now add Cabbage. Add required water and salt. Cook it (you can close it with lid). When it is half done add cooked dhal and salt (taste for the salt before adding). Boil it for another 7 mins in low flame. Switch it off. Add lemon juice and mix well.

Serve hot with roti / chapathi / hot rice.
