I am a big fan of millets. I wanted to try this puttu for quite some time. After I started to cook with millets my mum also try to make millet. She is having diabetes and her doctor has advised to take more millet base recipes. So she started to stock more millets. She got good Pearl millets and I asked her to make flour. She had done it before I have India. So I don’t have pics. But just fry till nice aroma released and grind to powder
Ingredients
Pearl Millet powder / Kambu mavvu – 2 cups
Grated Coconut – 4 tablespoons
Cardamom – 1/4 teaspoon
Roasted Sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
Jaggery – 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup
Method
Take the flour in a broader vessel. Add salt and sprinkle hot water and make the dough. you should be able to hold the flour with ur hand.
Add 1/2 cup of water and boil jaggery. Strain the syrup to remove the impurities. Keep it aside
Spread this flour in a idli cooker or steamer till the color of flour is changed.
Using hand make a nice flour. Use the finger tip to make nice smooth flour. Keep it aside
In a vessel take Coconut, Jaggery syrup, Sesame seeds, Cardamom and cooked flour mix well
Serve it
