I am a big fan of Coriander leaves / cilantro. This chutney is a very simple and flavourful side for idli, Dosa, Pesarattu or Kichadi. However this needs to be consumed within 2 days. I didn’t use Tamarind for this however if you want little more tangy you can add a bit of it. You can add couple of Garlic pod also. I had this with idli / dosa it was so perfect. This is so simple that even bachelors can try
Ingredients
onion – 1 (Big)
Tomatoes – 2 (medium)
Coriander leaves / cilantro – 1/2 cup
Red chillies – 5 (I have used less seed version so it is not spicy. adjust it based on spiciness of the chillies)
Salt to taste
Oil – 4 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 20
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
Method:
Heat 2 teaspoon of oil in a pan add onion and fry till transparent. Add Tomatoes and salt. Fry till mushy
Add coriander leaves and switch it off. Grind to smooth paste. Heat rest of the oil. And add mustard seeds and let it crackle. Add urad dhal and curry leaves and fry till brown in color. Pour it on the chutney
Serve with your favourite dish
