Idli Manchurian – idli Manchurian recipe – Snack recipes – Kids friendly recipe – Leftover idli recipes

My kids are big fans of fusion recipes. Manchurian is one of their most favourite fusion dish. I had some left over idlies and wanted to make some snack out of for our weekend evening. I had fresh spring onions, Capsicum so decided to do manchurian. They said this tastes really good. Crunchy outside and soft inside! wow! so addictive
Ingredients:


Idli – 6 (medium size)


For batter:


Maida – 3 tablespoon
Corn flour – 2 tablespoon
Rice flour – 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Ginger paste – 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic Paste – 1 teaspoon (I love garlicky taste. You can reduce it to 3/4 teaspoon)
Red chilli powder – 3/4 teaspoon


Oil for tawa toast / shallow fry 


For Gravy


Spring onion (green part) – 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
Bell pepper / Capsicum – 1/2 cup ( I have used green and red)
Spring onion (white part) – 2 tablespoon
Garlic – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Soya sauce – 3 teaspoon
Tomato sauce – 2 teaspoon
Chilli sauce – 1 teaspoon (mine was really hot adjust to ur spice level)
Pineapple sauce – 2 teaspoon (optional. It gave very tangy taste)
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 teaspoon



Method:


Cut idlies into 1 inch cube (or desired size). Take a broad vessel. Add all the ingredients under for batter. 

Mix into thick paste. Dip cut idli pieces in the batter so that all the sides of idli is covered with batter.

Heat 2 tablespoon of oil. When it is hot place the dipped idli pieces and fry till all the sides are crisp. Make sure idli pieces are in single layer. Also fry them in medium low flame. Turning carefully in between

When it is full done remove it from pan and keep it aside. Repeat the process till all the pieces are done.Heat the pan and add a teaspoon of oil. Add Garlic and white part of spring onion. Fry till brown in color.

Add diced capsicum with salt. And fry till it is cooked and crisp.  Add all the sauces and mix well. Cook for another 1- 2 mins

Add fried idli pieces mix well. Add coriander leaves and green portion of spring onion. Mix well.

Switch it off and serve hot
