My kids love Paneer. I had promised Naan for the weekend dinner. I forgot to make dough and I wanted to make up for the missed promise. I had some store brought paneer in the fridge. I decided to make Chilli Paneer. When the kids came back from their evening workout they were pleasantly surprised. As usual they loved it. Eventhough I have made it few times I was surprised that it took so long to post it…
Ingredients:


Paneer – 2 cups
Capsicum – 1 (diced into small cubes)
Onion – 1 (sliced thinly. I didn’t use it because of my son)
Green chillies  – 4 (slit into 2. Adjust to your spice level)
Tomato sauce – 2 teaspoon
Chilli Sauce – 1 teaspoon
Soya sauce – 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Spring onion – 1/2 cup (Green portion)
Spring onion – 2 tablespoon (bottom portion)
Ginger paste – 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Oil – 1.5 tablespoon (for mixing)
Oil – 1/4 cup (for Frying Marinated paneer)


For Marinating paneer


All purpose flour – 3 tablespoons
Rice flour – 1 tablespoon
Corn Flour – 2 tablespoons
Garlic – 1 tablespoon (Chopped finely)
Pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Water to make a smooth paste



Method


Mix all the ingredients under for Marinade with water to make smooth paste. Marinade room temperature Paneer for 30 mins 

Heat the flat pan add 1/4 cup of oil. when it is hot place the marinated paneer and fry till they are brown in color (all sides) turn them regularly. Remove the fried paneer and keep it aside. 

Add 1.5 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add bottom portion of spring onion, green chillies, ginger paste and garlic paste. Fry till nice aroma releasedAdd diced Onion if you are using. Fry till onion is transparent (I didn’t use Onion). Add Diced capsicum and bit of salt. And mix well. Fry for 2-3 mins. 

Now add soya sauce, Chilli sauce and tomato sauce. Mix well. Add fried paneer. Mix well till all the masala coats evenly to Paneer. Add spring onions and mix well.

Switch it off and serve hot.
