Paal Paniyaram – Traditional Sweet recipe – New year special

From the time I saw this post at sharmispassions I was so tempted to do it. Loved the texture and softness of it.. I was waiting for an opportunity to try ..I tried this during this holidays.. It came out wonderful. Thanks Sharmi for it. I have tried this at my friends house during school days which is made so traditional and tasty. After that even though I tried many times at different places it was never the same. This recipe gave the similar taste. Happy new year to all the readers and family!
Ingredients
Recipe source: Sharmipassions
Raw Rice – 1/2 cup
Whole Urad Dal – 1/2 cup
Coconut Milk – 1/2 cup
Milk(boiled and cooled) – 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder / Elachi powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt – a tiny pinch
Sugar – 1/8cup
Oil – to deep fry

Method

Soak raw rice and urad dhal together for 3-4 hours. Grind to smooth batter using grinder with very little water. Batter has to be thick. Mix in salt and mix well. Keep it aside

Heat the curved pan / kadai and add oil to deep fry. When the oil is hot add a spoonful of batter.

Let it cook. Turn over few times so that all the sides will get cook properly.

Once cooked drain the oil and transfer it to kitchen towel for draining excess oil. (I have changed the pan in between because the previous one was sticky :-))

In a bowl add coconut milk, milk, elachi powder, sugar and mix well.Drop the paniyarams into the prepared milk, let it soak for 5-10mins.

Enjoy it. My first son had it without the milk and they enjoyed it too
