Cholam Idli – sorghum Idli – Jowar Idli – healthy breakfast recipe – Millet Recipe

I love to try idli with millets. It has been a while since I did normal idli. When my mum came over a month ago she commented that by adding millet it didn’t make much of a difference. These days she has started to add millet while making idli at least once a week. For me idli is done fortnightly. Whereas my mum gets tensed if there is no idli batter in the fridge.  Cholam idli is very tasty and soft. I have posted Cholam dosa/sorghum dosa before. for idli I made slight modification to the ratio
Ingredients:

Quinoa – 3 cup
Idli rice – 1 cup
Urad dhal – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

Method
Wash and soak Cholam and rice together. Urad dhal and fenugreek seeds together. Soak both for 6-8 hours or overnight.

Grind the Urad dhal till it is fluffy. Remove it.

And add rice and cholam and grind it little coarse batter. Add urad dhal dough and salt. Run for another 2 mins.

Let the dough ferment it for 6-8 hours or overnight

You can use the idli cooker or traditional idli maker. Pour the batter and steam it till idli is cooked ( it will take about 8-10 mins at medium flame). When you touch with wet hand it shouldn’t stick to your hand.

Serve hot with your favourite chutney

    Awesome..Looks very soft and delicious.
I have one query about jowar
If suppose we add flour instead of whole is that okay, or will that give same taste, as don't have grinding stone machine which you have used, and I doubt whether my 750 watt mixer grinder able to grind jowar nicely.
