I love kolukattai. I do kolukattai almost every time I make idiyappam. I purposely make more dough and do kolukattai next day. My husband likes sweet poornam kolukattai. I like spicy or uppu version. My 2nd son also love the sweet one. I love the flavour of Sesame seeds. Rest of the family loves peanut. So I kind of alternate different stuffings / poornams. Enjoy this version of Ellu / Sesame seeds poornam kolukkattai
Ingredients
Rice Flour / Idiyappam flour – 1/2 cup
Salt per taste
Water as needed
Oil – 1.5 teaspoon
For Stuffing
Sesame seeds – 1 cup ( I have used White one)
Jaggery – 1 cup
Grated coconut – 3 tablespoon
Elachi / Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Make the outer cover of kolukkattai dough by adding boiling hot water (Make sure it is really boiling hot otherwise it will start to break) to the idiyappam flour. Cover it for 2 minutes. Using wooden spoon you make a pilable dough. When it is warm and can be handled with your hands, grease your hands with oil and knead into a pliable dough. Make lemon size balls. And keep it closed till you need it with wet cloth
