Our family is big on grain esp Ragi (finger millet), Bajra (Pearl millet). Kids were having school holiday. So I wanted to do some snack. Murukku is their most favourite Indian Snack. So I wanted to do it. In the post I have done Ragi Murukku and kids really loved it. At the same time I was given Ragi and Potato for July Shhhhh Cooking Secretly Challenge by Nirmala Gurunathan. so I have decided to do Ragi Potato Murukku. It came out really crisp and tasty. So here you go with recipe. This post goes to
Ingredients
Ragi flour – 1 cup
Rice Flour – 1 cup ( I have used idiyappam flour)
Bengal gram flour / kadalai mavu – 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Chilli powder – 3/4 teaspoon
Butter – 2.5 tablespoon
Potato – 1 (Medium. cook it and mash it)
Asafoetida / Hing – a pinch
Method:
Take broad vessel and add all the ingredients. Mix well. Add water little by little and make a soft dough. Take Murukku presser and put in your preferred plate. I have used star shaped one. Fill it with dough. Press the murkku on a tissue paper.
Heat the oil in deep pan. When it is hot add slowly few pressed murukku. Fry them in medium flame till “shhhh” sound subside. Turning them few times. Drain the oil and remove it from pan and place it on a kitchen tissue paper. Repeat the process till all the dough is done
Once cool down store it in air tight container and enjoy.
