Amla Soup Recipe – Gooseberry Tangy Rasam – Nellikai Soup Recipe

I wanted to try this Gooseberry soup / rasam for long time. Since I brought fresh Amla I was so tempted to try. I decided to try out and hide from my family till they taste it. In fact till the end no one noticed the difference. So you can try this vitamin rich C also anti oxidants
Ingredients:

Cooked Thuvar / thoor dhal – 1/2 cup

Amla / Gooseberry / Nellikai – 5 (big one)
Pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
Green chillies – 3-4 (slit into 2)
Curry leaves – 10
Asafetida – pinch
Ginger garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Cilantro / coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon
Mustard seeds -1/4 teaspoon
oil – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:

De seed gooseberry and add 3/4 cup of water and grind it to smooth paste. And take juice out of it. Keep it aside. Mix cooked dhal, Amla juce, cumin seed powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and keep it aside

Heat the pan and add oil. When it is hot add mustard seeds and let it pop. Add curry leaves, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and asafetida. Fry for another 2-3 mins or till nice aroma comes. Add dhal water to it. Let it boil. Once u see the bubble forming switch it off add coriander leaves and serve hot

I had it with rice / just as soup. I enjoyed both ways
