Aval Murukku recipe – Poha Murukku Recipe – poha chakli recipe – Murukku recipes – snacks recipes – Gokulashtami recipes

I have seen Aval Murukku in many blogs last year for Gokulashtami / Krishna Jayanthi / Janmashtami but got busy with work so ended up with simple Aval curd you can find more recipes for Gokulashtami here and All Poha recipes here. I was not sure about the texture of this murukku. Esp after grinding poha as the dough was bit sticky and also tasted more like vadagam dough. To my surprise, this turned out to be super crispy, light, and super tasty. It got finished within a day! Do try this for this Gokulashtami

Ingredients

Poha/ Beaten rice / Flatten rice / Aval – 1 cup
Iddiyappam flour – 1 cup
roasted gram flour – 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Butter – 1 tablespoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

oil for deep frying

Method

wash and soak poha for 30 mins (I have used 1/2 cup water or just enough to immerse).

Aval would have absorbed all water. Grind poha to smooth paste with salt.

In a border vessel add rice flour, roasted gram flour, butter, cumin seeds, butter, grounded poha and make a soft dough (I didn’t add any water to make the dough so add water bit by bit)

In a murukku mold stuff the dough

Press it on a kitchen tissue. Keep it aside. Heat oil for deep fry

heat oil for deep fry. Add murukku once oil is hot. Let it cook. Turn a few times. Once “shhhhh” sound subsides drain extra oil and remove it

Place it in kitchen tissue and let it cool down.
Once done store it in an airtight container.

Pray to God and enjoy it!
