I love anything to do with Aval (Probably you can see that from the count of recipes on this blog). Aval kesari, Aval Sweet Pongal, Sweet Aval, Aval Kheer/Payasam the list goes on. I love puttu. It is a light and perfect snack for the kids. It is simple naivedyam recipe. If the festival falls on a working day and you have little time to do anything this would be a perfect choice. I had this recipe from one of my friends.
Ingredients:
Aval(Poha) – 1 cup
Grated Coconut – 3 tablespoon
Jaggery – 1/2 cup
Coconut – 2 tbsp
Cashews – 1 tablespoon
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Roasted sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon
Salt – a pinch
Water – 1/2 cup(for jaggery syrup) + as required(for cooking poha)
Method:
Dry roast poha until nice aroma released and Aval is crisp. Let it cool down. Grind to fine rava consistency.
Roast grated coconut and set aside.(you see more here as I have roasted for puttu and seedai together)
