Normally I plan for the day’s meal the day before. One of the day I almost didn’t plan for dinner. During lunch I was asking my kids whether they are ok with Chapathi or upma however they wanted Dosa. No dosa batter in the fridge. Was wondering what to do
Ingredients
Idli Rice – 2 Cup
Urad dhal – 2 tablespoon
Fenugreek seeds – 1/8 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Red dry chillies – 3 (don’t add so much)
Shallots / Small onion – 3
Grated Coconut – 1 tablespoon
Beetroot – 2 (Grated)
Oil – 3 teaspoon + cooking dosa
Peanut powder – 1 teaspoon per dosa (optional. Highly recommended)
Method:
Wash and soak Idli rice, urad dhal , Fenugreek seeds and Red chillies for 3 hrs. Heat oil and add onion and fry till transparent. Add grated beetroot and fry till raw smell goes off. Let it cool down
Grind the fried beetroot and coconut with required water and salt. Keep it aside
Grind soaked Rice with required water.
Mix Grinded beet and rice together mix well. Add water of required. The batter would be in dosa batter consistency
Heat flat pan. Take a laddle full of batter and spread it outward. Turn it over and cook it also
Once done turn it over and sprinkle peanut powder and using dosa laddle press it a bit. Roll it
Serve hot
