I wanted to do this bread bonda for a very long time. However my kids during school days had bread almost everyday till late last year so I didn’t want to do bread dishes again for evening snack and during weekend wanted to stay away from bread. However things changed from late last year. Now a days they have bread only once or at most twice a week. So I can make bread base snack dishes. I made it with all vegetables but you can do it with potato and peas only. I didn’t add peas as my 2nd one doesn’t eat peas.
Ingredients
For stuffing
Potato – 2 (cook and mash it)
Mixed vegetables – 2 cups (I have used beans, carrot and cauliflower)
Onion – 1 small ( I have used white onion)
Ginger paste – 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic – 1 teaspoon
Oil – 2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Mint leaves- 10 (chopped finely. Optional)
Ghee – 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
Garam masala – 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
For Bonda
Bread as you need (Milk or white bread works best)
Oil for Deep frying
Method:
Heat pan with oil and add cumin seeds. Let it crackle. Add onion.salt required for frying onion and fry till transparent. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric powder fry till nice aroma released.
Add all vegetables. Mix well. Add 2 tablespoon of water and close it with lid. Till vegetable got cooked. Add cooked potato and mix well.
Dip in water and take it out quickly so that just one side gets wet place the stuffing at the center. (If bread is very wet squeeze out extra water. If you take out quick you can skip this step)
Bring all the side together to close it and make a smooth ball.
Prepare all the balls. If you have time keep in freezer for 30 mins. Heat oil for deep fry. When oil is hot add few bondas at time and cook it in medium flame till all sides are brown.
