Chakka Pradhaman Recipe – Kerala Style Jackfruit Payasam Recipe – Jackfruit Kheer with Jaggery- Simple Pooja recipes – Simple Festivals recipe – Simple naivedyam recipes

I love to make Kheer. Jackfruit is one of my most fav fruit esp during season. When I first moved to Singapore I was surprised to see Jackfruit all year. Back home during season, whole house smells like the nice aroma of jackfruit from Kollimalai (Kolli hills). Even though I get Jackfruit here I still miss the ones I get in India. Those days my grandma used to cut the big jackfruit .. taking jackfruit is a process. which I love to watch :-). I love sweets made up of fruits. This one no exception to it
Ingredients

Jackfruit – 12-15 Pieces (adjust based on size of the Jackfruit)
Coconut bits – 2 tablespoon (I didn’t add. But highly recommended)
thick coconut milk – 3/4 cup
Jaggery – 1/2 cup  minus 1 tablespoon
Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Cashewnuts – 1 tablespoon

Method

Fry the cashew,Coconut bits till it is brown color

Wash and remove the seeds from jackfruit. Chop roughly. Fry it in 1/2 teaspoon of Ghee/ Oil. Add 1/4 cup of water.
Cook it till soft. I have pressure cooked till 2 whistle.

Once cooked jackfruit cool down grind to smooth paste. Melt the Jaggery with enough water. And strain the impurities.

Mix jackfruit paste and jaggery together. Bring it to boil. Reduce the flame and add coconut milk. Don’t let it boil after adding coconut milk

Add Cardamom, Fried Cashew and coconut bit. Mix well. Switch it off.

Serve hot or cold.
