Chana Dal Rice | Chana Dal Pulao Recipe | Rice With Split Bengal Gram Dhal

This is one of the simplest yet very delicious rice recipe. It is perfect for kids or even old age people. It is also good for dieting. This is one balanced one pot meal. With the dal / rice and simple spices it tastes amazing. Perfect for lunch box for kids / office goers. It is also good for Bachelor no grinding involved. This is good for party too
Ingredients:


Bastmati rice / Long grained rice – 1 cup
Chana dal / bengal gram dal – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Green chillies – 3 (slit into 2)
Bay leaves – 1
Cloves – 2
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Garam masala – 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Onion – 1 (slice them thinly)
Coriander leaves – 3 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Oil / ghee – 3 teaspoon
Ginger paste – 1 teaspoon
Garlic paste – 2 teaspoon



Method:


Wash and soak rice for 15 mins. Drain it. Wash and soak the dal for 1-2 hrs. Cook it with turmeric powder and salt. Make sure it still holds its shape. Drain extra water and keep it aside. Don’t throw the water. We can use it for cooking rice

Now add oil and fry 1/2 of the onion till crispy. Keep it aside

In the same oil add rest of the onion and chillies. Fry till transparent. Add ginger garlic paste. Fry till raw smell goes off. Add rice and fry for 30 sec. Add garam masala and mix it well. 

Add 2 cup of water (take the dal water and add plain water if required). Close the lid and cook the rice. Once cooked add cooked dal and coriander leaves.

Mix well. Switch it off

Serve hot
