Coconut Dhal Chutney

I am not a big fan of Coconut.On top of that however I do my family use to complain the taste is not as good as what they had in India. So we seldom do coconut Chutney. Today I was thinking about side dish for Adai I run out most of vegetables so decided to do coconut chutney. But instead of making full coconut decided add some dhal. In the end it turn out to be very good. Today my family had Adai without making any noise they said the combination was good.


Ingredients:
Coconut – 1/2 cup
Bengal Gram Dhal – 3/4 tablespoon
Urad Dhal – 1 tablespoon
Dry Red chillies – 5 (adjust to spiciness you need)
Salt as required
Tamarind – 1 Gooseberry size
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Small Onion – 1 or 2 chopped finely
Curry leaves – 1 string


Method:


Heat kada and add 1/4 teaspoon of oil
Add Onion and fry for 2-3 mins
Add dhals and chillies fry till dhals are brown
Add coconut and fry till it turn to light brown. Switch off the flame and let it cool down
Add Salt, Soaked Tamarind and grind to coarse chutney
Heat the oil in a small kada
When Oil is hot add mustard seeds and let it pop
Add Curry leaves and fry for 10 sec
Add it on top of the chutney and mix it well
