Dabeli masala powder Recipe – Homemade Dabeli masala powder recipe – Kutchi Masala – Back to basic recipe

I had this chat item during my stay in Chennai. I have tasted diff masala. This happend 6-8 months ago. After that every time when my mum ask for list of things to buy for my India trip this masala will always be there. But couldn’t find it in Trichy or Chennai. I asked few of my north Indian colleagues but every time the result is negative. I have decided to try out masala powder at home. Originally I have noted down from Priti’s indiankhana. When was planning for making the masala I saw this from Binjal space. In the end I made my own mix based on spices I had. It came out so nice stay tuned for for Dabeli chat
Ingredients:


Coriander Seeds – 2 tablespoon
Fennel seeds – 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 2 teaspoon
Cinnamon – 1 inch stick
Black salt – 3/4 teaspoon
Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Dry Coconut gratings / Koparai thengai – 1.5 tablespoon
Red chillies – 4
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon (Optional)
Sesame seeds – 2 teaspoon
pepper corn – 1/2 teaspoon
Annie seeds – 1
Clove – 4
Green Cardamom – 2 (If you have black pls. use it)
Mace / Javithri powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Bay leaves – 2



Method:


Dry roast all the ingredients except powders (black salt, Sugar and Javithri powder). Till nice aroma released. Dry roast coconut for a min

Let it cool down. Once done add other powders and grind to nice powder. 

Add Chilli powder (If using) and run the mixie again

Store it in air tight container

    Useful post Veena, I think, I used to get it in the US and I think, now I should be able to find in Bangalore, but if u can do it at home, it's even better right..
