Dhal for idiyappam (idiyappam sidedish)

Idiyappam is very light food so normally to balance it I used do something which is high in protein to with it. this one is pretty easy to do doesn’t take long time yet high in protein.. Perfect for lazy Friday evening 🙂


Ingredients:


Moong Dhal – 1/4 cup
Thuar Dhal – 1/4 Cup
Green Chillies – 3 

Garlic – 5
Cumin Seeds -1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves – 1 String
Tomato – 1 and 1/2
Small Onion – 7
Ginger – 1 inch
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Urad Dhal – 1 teaspoon
Asafetida – pinch
Chopped Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon
Oil – 1 teaspoon


Method


Wash and cook both the dhal when it is half done add Onion, Ginger, Tomato, Turmeric powder, Slit Green Chillies and garlic and cook again till all are cooked well (I used pressure cooker after add all the ingredients I let it cook till 2 whistles)
Heat the kada and add oil
When Oil is hot add Mustard seeds when it start to splutter add Urad Dhal, Curry leaves, Asafetida and Cumin seeds and fry till Dhal is brown add to the Dhal and let it boil
Add Chopped Coriander leaves and switch it off
