Eggless Doughnut recipe – Basic donut recipe – kids friendly recipe – breakfast recipes – snacks recipe

My sons loved doughnuts but recently they out grow that. This is very simple recipe. This is first time I have tried making at home. It turned out to be soft and light. I have been postponing trying out at home due to yeast. Yes only recently I have outgrow my fear for using yeast. I wanted to try basic doughnut for my first try. This is perfect for kids snack (even though it is made out of all purpose flour) or even breakfast
Ingredients



All purpose flour – 1.5 cup
baking powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
vanilla extract – 1/4 teaspoon
Dry active yeast – 1 pocket / 2.25 teaspoon
Milk – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1 tablespoon
melted butter – 2 tablespoon
Oil for deep frying



Method:


Take a small bowl. Add warm milk, sugar and mix well till dissolve completely. Add dry yeast, mix it, cover it and keep aside for 10 minutes or till yeast will become foamy. This step is required to activate yeast

in another bowl take all purpose flour, salt, baking powder mix well. Add activated yeast, melted butter, vanilla extract.

Mix well.  Make very soft and sticky dough. Knead well for 5 mins to get smooth dough. Keep it aside till dough is double up (about 1 hr). 

Punch down and knead again for 2-3 mins.On a clean counter top sprinkle flour and spread the dough to thick sheet

Use round cookie cutter. Cut into small disk. Take another small cap and cut at center to get exact doughnut shape. Arrange it in a flat tray. Cover it with sheet. Let it raise again.

Heat oil in a deep pan. When the oil is hot enough (not fuming hot). Fry doughnuts at medium / low medium heat till all sides are brown in colorOnce done remove it by draining . extra oil. Place it on kitchen tissue to drain extra oil. Repeat the process

When next batch getting cooked roll the cooked doughnuts in sugar. Arrange it on wired rack
