Garlic Thokku

I love anything with Garlic. Kids are neutral to the garlic taste. So most of the time I will do something that will last for at least few days (even with small qty it will end up for few days).. This is pretty similar to what my mum used to do. But instead of Tamarind we use tomatoes in this. This goes well with Idly, dosa, Idiyappam
Ingredients:

Red Chillies – 8
Garlic – 1.5 Cup
Tomatoes – 3
Oil (Gingerly Oil is best. If not you can use any cooking oil) – 1 tablespoon
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt per taste

Method:

Heat the kada and add 1 teaspoon of oil. When Oil is hot add garlic, chillies and tomatoes. Fry till tomatoes are mushy. Switch it off and let it cool down

Transfer the fried mixture to blendar or mixie and grind it to coarse paste. Heat rest of the oil in the kada. Add mustard seeds and asafoetida. When mustard seeds pops up add grinded mixture. Ahd let it boil till oil separates. Switch it off and enjoy the Thokku
