Keerai Masiyal Recipe

I love simple keerai masiyal. It is so flavourful and very simple to make. It is very healthy too. Even though you can have this as a side dish I prefer to mix it in my steamed rice. Both white and brown rice go well with this. It is very healthy too. When you want to make keerai masiyal you need to have more than normal quantity as we will not add dhal to it. There are many ways to do masiyal. Mine is very simple and the flavour for this comes from garlic
Ingredients:

Keerai – 3 cups (clean and cut. I have used spinach. Spinach, mula keerai or arai keerai goes well for this)
Garlic – 10 pods (slice them into small pieces)
Salt to taste
Red chillies – 5-8 (adjust to your spice level)
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:

Cook Keerai, Garlic, red chillies (reserve 1 for tempering) and required salt.

Once cooked mash it with spoon

Heat the pan and add oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds let it pop. Switch it off add reserved red chillies. Pour this to the mashed Keerai

Serve hot with steamed rice
