Hot and Sweet Lime Tofu

Tofu! What a versatile ingredient. You can make so many simple / delicious dishes with it. It can be starter, side dish or mixed into the main dishes like rice or noodles. In Singapore you get so many different variety of Tofu. So I as confessed many times these days tofu one of main source of protein for me. I am lucky as my kids are very big fans of Tofu too. Because of this even if I go to China I can still have good meal even though I am pure vegetarian. Combination of spices in this dish is really so nice it has all the taste you can think of. So try it out to enjoy
Ingredients:

Firm Tofu – 3 Cup (after cubing. Each cube about 1/2 inch)
Corn Flour – 6 Tablespoon
Salt per taste
Oil – 2-3 tablespoon
Spring Onion – 1 tablespoon (chopped)

For Sauce

Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 teaspoon

Soya Sauce – 1.5 teaspoon
Sugar – 3 tablespoon
Sesame oil – 1.5 teaspoon
Red Chilli flakes – 2 teaspoon
Mint Leaves – 1 teaspoon (finely Chopped)
Lime Juice or Lemon Juice – 1 tablespoon (adjust to your taste)


Method:

Cube the Tofu and add salt and cornflour and mix it well. Keep it aside for 30 mins. 

Mix all the ingredients under For sauce and keep it aside for 20 – 30 mins.

Heat the kada and add 2-3 tablespoon of oil and shallow fry the Tofu till all the sides are slight brown in color. Make each pieces are touching the bottom of the kada if not do it in 2 batches

Heat the kada and add sauce. When the foam start to form add in fried Tofu and mix well.  When the sauce is fully coated on it add in spring onion and mix well.

Serve hot. It can be served as snack or as side dish to fried rice or noodles

      no it is different Corn flour is milled from the corn, while cornstarch is obtained from the endosperm portion of the kernel.

    This is just lovely….I have made it several times and it just gets better each time. My husband is a very good cook and my cooking is usually just ok for him. This dish he just LOVES and has even asked me to prepare it again and again.

    Did the picture have 10 times the ingredients for the sauce or an I missing something…the portions only show a few tablespoons.
