idli Sambar

Ingredients:

Thuvar dhal – ½ cup
Green gram dhal – ¼ cup
Tamarind – SmallGooseberry size

Turmeric Powder – ¼ teaspoon
Sambar onion – 10 to 15 Nos
Tomato – 1 
Green Chillies – 5-6 Nos per taste
Curry leaves – few
Coriander leaves – for garnishing
Oil – 1 tablespoon
Mustard – ½ teaspoon
Asafotida Powder – ¼ teaspoon

Nicely cut Mixed vegetables – Carrot, Brinjal, Beans and Potato (3/4 cup)
Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste


Method:


Peel the skin from the sambar onion and cut it lengthwise into two or four, depending on its size

Chop tomato. Slit the green chillies lengthwise.
Pressure cook both thuvar and green gram dhals and cook till 2 whistle
When Pressure cooker cool down open it.
Add Onion, Tomato, all cut vegetable, green chillies, salt together along with a pinch of turmeric powder
Pressure cook for another 2 whistle.
Soak tamarind in water and squeeze out the juice with half cup water.
Open the pressure cooker add tamarind water.  Allow to boil again. 
Remove from stove and garnish with coriander leaves.

Today I have added other left over vegetables like Avaraikai, cluster beans (Kothavarangai) etc..
